Walking and Trekking : the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is an outdoor
and indoor sport in which a person climbs up, down, or across natural rock
formations or artificial climbing walls. The goal is to reach the top of a
route or complete a climbing path safely using physical strength, balance, technique,
and mental focus.
Modern rock climbing is both a
recreational activity and a competitive sport. It became especially popular
after being included in the Olympic Games.
Types of Rock Climbing
1.
Traditional Climbing (Trad Climbing)
Climbers place their own
protective gear into cracks and remove it after climbing. It requires
experience and technical skills.
2. Sport
Climbing
Routes already have fixed
bolts attached to the rock. Climbers clip ropes into these bolts for safety.
3.
Bouldering
Climbing short but difficult
routes without ropes, usually close to the ground with crash pads for
protection.
4. Free
Climbing
The climber uses ropes only
for safety, not for support in climbing.
5. Aid
Climbing
Climbers use equipment such as
ladders and hooks to help them progress upward.
6. Solo
Climbing
A climber climbs alone. In
“free soloing,” no ropes or protective equipment are used.
7. Indoor
Climbing
Done on artificial walls
inside gyms and training centers.
